Log House Holidays Cirencester - Dog Friendly Stay

After two cancellations due to Covid lockdowns, we waited two years to visit Log House Holidays and it didn't disappoint! It was so worth the wait and it's easy to see why this place is so popular. Set in a private 130 acre nature reserve, this rural Cotswolds oasis is the perfect luxury escape.

Despite boasting a total of eight different lodges and cabins (ranging in size.) Log House Holidays have scattered these around the lake and maintained the feeling of being secluded. We stayed in the 'Elsa' Lodge, which sleeps 4 and is surrounded by beautiful coppiced silver birch tress, wildflowers and reed beds. Enveloped in unspoiled beauty and home to a variety of different birds and a family of otters this really is the perfect place to switch off, kick back and immerse yourself in nature.

The decked veranda leads down to the lodges very own private jetty which moors your own large wooden row boat to use as you please during your stay. We absolutely loved this and had plenty of laughs trying to manoeuvre it at first until we'd got the hang of it! This jetty is also the perfect place for a spot of fishing if that's something you enjoy.

Off to the side of the lodge, a wooden footbridge leads to it's own little private island with wooden chairs by the lake, perfect for enjoying evening drinks and the sunset. There is also a raised fire pit and benches for toasting marshmallows. Outdoor blankets, two boxes of seasoned logs, firelighters, matches and marshmallows are all provided for the duration of your stay.

There is a private hot tub to the front of the lodge which is an optional extra. What we loved about this hot tub is the fact that it is underfloor heated and kept at a constant temperature throughout your stay. This meant we could just dip in and out whenever we felt like it and didn't have to think about heating it ourselves and waiting for it to warm up!

There is also a large outdoor BBQ, swing chair, small private beach and private parking next to the lodge.

The lodge itself was full of rustic charm and we loved that it was a proper authentic wood cabin. Double doors lead straight into the kitchen area which is fully equipped with electric oven and gas hob. Fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. It really is home away from home and there is nothing you'd need to bring apart from yourselves!

The living area has a woodburner, smart TV and DVD player, mini library and binoculars complete with bird identification sheets for helping you spot all the wildlife that surrounds you!

There are two bedrooms within the lodge and a large bathroom complete with bath and shower.

There is also a large traditional kitchen maid clothes airer which was absolutely perfect for drying off wetsuits etc after a day on the lake!

As stunning as the lodge was, the best part, for us is the private lake. Being watersports fans it was beyond perfect to be able to step outside and launch your SUP/Kayak straight onto the water and not have to worry about noisy motorboats and rowdy groups. SUPS and Kayaks can be added to your booking and provided for you at an extra cost so don't worry if you don't have your own! This is also the perfect place to give these activities a go with your pups as there are no distractions, it's private and quiet.

Just behind the 'Elsa' lodge is a 4 acre playing field which was absolutely perfect for letting the dogs run around. During our stay we didn't venture away from lodge, there really was no need to as there was so much to do and we wanted to make sure we made the most of every second of our stay!

We absolutely adored our stay with Log House Holidays and wish we could do it all over again!

Love Kelly & Murphy x x x
