When sharing Murphys raw bowls over on Instagram, something I am regularly asked is 'What are those paws?' or 'How do you make them?'
The short answer is: They're nothing more than Kefir and berries and they're super simple to make!
For those who have never heard of Kefir or it's benefits for dogs; it's basically a healthy fermented milk drink. It can be made from cow, sheep or goats milk and the health benefits for both human and hound are huge and include:
- Antibiotic and anti-fungal properties.
- Aids prevention of allergies.
- Promotes healthy skin.
- Strengthens the digestive system.
- Helps with upset stomach.
- Can counteract bad breath.
- Helps with joint disease.
- Potentially reduces the increase of cancerous cells.
How much Kefir should I give my dog?
I give Murphy around 3-4 paws a week, but as a rough guide: small dogs 1 teaspoon - 1 tablespoon daily, Medium dogs 1-2 tablespoons daily, Large dogs 2-3 tablespoons daily.
